When man and machine interact in production, technical documentation forms an important working basis. Created digitally, they help to qualify workers, accompany important work steps and ensure quality standards
Industry 4.0, networked manufacturing, adaptive production, process optimization, automation, artificial intelligence – at least in theory, industry is facing a golden age in which digital technologies will support and relieve the burden on people and, with an increase in reproducible quality, even complex tasks within the value chain can be managed competitively, efficiently and sustainably. Objectively speaking, this digital revolution in industry is still in its infancy in many sectors. One example of this is worker management with the help of technical documentation: From the qualification of new employees to in-process quality control and the implementation of measures for process adaptation and optimization, processes in industrial production are documented in order to provide workers with a reliable basis for the professional execution of individual work steps. In practice, this is all too often still done in analog form. This means that processes are elaborately documented, illustrated and explained and often provided as conventional text or presentation files or even in paper form. Dealing with such “manuals” is a disproportionate effort, not least in their creation, and also inconvenient to use during the process.
