tepcon supports the Schneider bee manufactory
Last week, we received the harvest from our sponsor bees: delicious organic honey from the region. But this year, our three bee colonies had a hard time making ends meet. Too much rain and too low temperatures prevented the bees from leaving the hive to forage for food. The hail also meant that many flowers were destroyed.
Beekeeper Irene Schneider from Biomanufaktur Schneider in Dauchingen explains: “We had to feed our 50 bee colonies all year round, otherwise they would have simply starved to death.
The winter feed was already used up in August, resulting in additional, unplanned costs. As a result, the honey yield was very low this year. We were also barely able to market our organic honey this year, as there were only a few markets where we could showcase our work due to the coronavirus. That’s why bee sponsorships are so important for our beekeeping.”
